Notes
Extraordinary Machine is Apple's third album release and her first release in six years since her sophomore effort, When the Pawn... It was originally recorded in 2003 with When The Pawn producer Jon Brion. The release date kept getting pushed back and eventually most of the songs were leaked on the Internet and was never released. Fiona went back into the studio to finish recording the album and making changes to most of the songs. The title track and final track Waltz are the original recording with Jon Brion, all the other tracks were revamped and the album finally was released in the Fall of 2005.
Recommendations
This is honestly my favorite of Fiona's three official releases. In ways its similar to her other two albums, however this one seems to be a little more craftier and catchier to me. If you're not the biggest fan I would recommend just making a compilation disc of her work. You could make a solid disc out of her three albums.
If you plan on purchasing Extraordinary Machine
You can usually find this album at your local record stores, however you can usually purchase it for a more reasonable price at Cdnow.com. There is also a dual disc available, I recommend just purchasing the regular version for half the price.
If you don't plan on purchasing Extraordinary Machine but want to hear some tracks from it
For a casual fan most Fiona Apple songs are similar. This personally is my favorite album by her. If you are interested you should check out my top 5 at Itunes or Napster. I also have my ideal compilation on my Fiona Apple Home Page.
