Notes

Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not is the first release for the band in the U.S. This album was extremely hyped up in the U.K. as the best thing to come out since Oasis.  The radio hit I bet you look good on the dancefloor is one of the weaker tracks off the album in my opinion.  There are only a few good tracks here and the rest is just O.K. It did not chart in the United States, but did hit number one in the U.K.

Recommendations

If you are into the indie rock/Brit Pop scene you should at least give this album a chance.  If your only a Top-40 Pop fan you may want to stay away from this one, or download a couple of my recommended tracks.

If you plan of purchasing Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not

I have seen two different versions of this album available.  The track selection is the same, the only difference is the jewel case.  There is the thin booklet jewel case, and the plastic jewel case.  You should be able to find it in stock at any best buy or local record store.  If you can not find it there, Cdnow.com has it in stock.

If you don't plan on purchasing Whatever People...and would like to hear some tracks

If you just want to have the hits for your collection go ahead and download Dancefloor and Sun Goes Down. But if you want to expand a little I recommend giving Riot Van and A Certain Romance a try.  You can find these tracks available for download at Itunes or Napster.  I also have my ideal compilation for the band on my Arctic Monkeys home page.
