Notes

The debut of Alice In Chains' Facelift was an important contribution to the grunge scene.  This is one of the first real grunge albums ever released and includes the classics "We Die Young", & "Man in the box".

Recommendations

This is not Alice in Chains' strongest effort, but for a debut, it is pretty darn good.  Through the span of their career they become stronger and more craftier.  If you are only into the hit songs by Alice in Chains, then I would pass this up.  I hate to call any material on this album filler, but there are a few tracks that fall short to others.  But if you want to own a good CD and discover some tracks you may not have heard before, there is no better place to start than Facelift.

If you plan on purchasing Facelift

If you visit Best Buy once a week, you are bound to come across this album for sale at least once a month.  It sells for a reasonable price but you can usually get a better deal at Cdnow.com.  If you are interested in purchasing multiple Alice In Chains albums, I would probably visit Cdnow.com and take advantage of the free shipping on any purchase over 25 dollars.  You will definitely be saving money there.

If you don't plan on purchasing Facelift but want to hear some tracks from it

"We Die Young"/"Man in the box" is a must have for any music collection.  In my opinion these songs go together and are much better when played back to back.  If you don't have any interest in purchasing Facelift, you should at least own a Alice in Chains' greatest hit CD with these tracks on it or download them from either Itunes or Napster If you are interested in making a compilation disc, I also have my ideal compilation for the band on my Alice in Chains Home Page
