Notes

Back in Black is one of the most popular of AC/DC's many albums.  It features new lead singer Brian Johnson.  In a way he sounds quite similar to Bon Scott, but I personally prefer Bon.  After the release of Highway to Hell Bon Scott died in the backseat of a car choking on his own vomit.  Rumors were that AC/DC were finished.  Then they recruited new lead singer/song writer Brian Johnson, and released what is their most popular album to date.  The all black album cover is tribute to Bon Scott's death.  This album reached number 4 on the Billboard pop charts, and Rolling Stone named it number 73 of the top 500 albums of all time.

Recommendations

Must own for any music library. I'm sure almost everyone has heard at least two songs off this album, if not more.

If you plan on purchasing Back In Black

You must pick up the 2003 remastered version.  All AC/DC albums have been remastered with new packaging, fabulous liner notes, and CD ROM extra footage features.  AC/DC may have the greatest CD package on the market today.  The liner notes tell a continuing story on the band.  Each disc continues the story where the previous disc left off. You can find this album at your local Best Buy or any local record store.  It is usually sold at a reasonable price, and with the use of Cdnow.com, you should never pay more than $11.99 for it.

If you don't plan on purchasing Back In Black but want to hear some tracks from it

I'm not sure why you wouldn't want to own Back In Black, but if you're one of the few who doesn't, there are some tracks you must own.  "Hells Bells", "Shoot To Thrill", "Back in Black", & "You shook me all night long", must be in every single music library.  If interested you should check out Itunes or Napster to download these tracks. I also have my ideal compilation for the band on my AC/DC home page.
