Notes
Powerage, AC/DC's third release in the U.S. introduces a new member of the group, Cliff Williams. Cliff replaced bass player Mark Evans, and has become the permanent bass player to date. In addition to Cliff on bass, this is the final studio album that older sibling George Young and Easybeats member Harry Vanda produce with the band for the next few years. Powerage is another Bon Scott era classic with big hits such as "Sin City", "Riff Raff", and "Rock 'N' Roll Damnation". It reached 133 on the Billboard Pop charts
Recommendations
I recommend Powerage to any one interested in hard rock, or a fan of the AC/DC Bon Scott era. There are a few big hits here and a couple deep tracks such as "Down Payment Blues".
If you plan on purchasing Powerage
You must pick up the 2003 remastered version. All AC/DC albums have been remastered with new packaging, fabulous liner notes, and CD ROM extra footage features. AC/DC may have the greatest CD package on the market today. The liner notes tell a continuing story on the band. Each disc continues the story where the previous disc left off. I have had minor success in finding this album available in local record stores. Your best bet would be to order it from Cdnow.com, they always have it in stock and you shouldn't have to pay more than $11.99 for it anywhere.
If you don't plan on purchasing Powerage but want to hear some tracks from it
"Sin City" & "Riff Raff" are AC/DC fan favorites. If you have any interest in this band you must have those two tracks. I highly recommend giving "Rock 'N' Roll Damnation" and "Down Payment Blues" a listen as well. "Down Payment Blues" is one of many hidden gems in the AC/DC catalog. If interested you should check out Itunes or Napster to download these tracks. I also have my ideal compilation for the band on my AC/DC Home Page.
