Notes
After coming off three amazing albums, all produced by Robert John "Mutt" Lange, AC/DC produced their first album as a band. The results were not all that great. You can defiantly tell the difference in producing, but still it's not that bad of a record. AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd decided to call it quits during the recording of this album. All his drums parts were recorded previous to leaving the band so he gets full credit. Flick of the switch hit number 15 on the Billboard charts.
Recommendations
Out of all the albums released by AC/DC prior to this, this one is the worse. Does that mean it's bad? Not at all, it's just not classic AC/DC. There is not a track that really jumps at you, though there are some decent ones. If you're not collecting all their albums, then I'd say you would be okay to pass it up the next time you're at Best Buy. But if you are serious about becoming an AC/DC fan you should own it.
If you plan on purchasing Flick of the switch
You must pick up the 2003 remastered version. All AC/DC albums have been remastered with new packaging, fabulous liner notes, and CD ROM extra footage features. AC/DC may have the greatest CD package on the market today. The liner notes tell a continuing story on the band. Each disc continues the story where the previous disc left off. You should be able to purchase this CD at any Best Buy, or local record store. Check out Cdnow.com as well, they sometimes have discounted rates on AC/DC albums.
If you don't plan on purchasing Flick of the switch but want to hear some tracks from it
I have listed my personal top five tracks from this album. If interested you should check out Itunes or Napster to download a couple tracks that I recommend. I also have my ideal compilation for the band on my AC/DC home page.
