Notes

This is the first album released by The Alchemist.  Like all of his albums, this is a mix tape that features artists that The Alchemist works with.  There are three versions of this album, the regular release, a special edition bonus CD/DVD, & an instrumental disc.  I own the regular 2004 release.

Recommendations

This is not a bad album.  If you are into Mobb Deep, or Hip-Hop mix tapes, then you should check this one out. There are not too many stand out tracks here.  To be honest I prefer most of his work on other artists' albums.  The album does tend to get quite annoying with the interludes and just about the end of every track there is this stupid clip about "Your boy Al", boy is that annoying!

If you plan on purchasing 1st Infantry

You can usually find the regular release version of this album at  Best Buy or any other local record store.  If you are into instrumental's and like to put your own lyrics over the music then you should buy the instrumental version.  If not I would just get the regular release.  The only difference between the regular version and the special edition is that it comes with a DVD.  But that is not worth the money for me.  All three versions are available at Cdnow.com.

If you don't plan on purchasing 1st Infantry but want to hear some tracks from it

As I stated earlier, there are not a lot of stand out tracks.  The big hit off of this one was the track Hold You Down, other than that there were not any big Hits.  If you are into Mobb Deep then I would check out the tracks they appear on, especially the one with Nas.  You can download these tracks at either Itunes or Napster.  There is not an ideal compilation for The Alchemist since he is a producer.
