Notes

After their heavier sounding debut, Alice in Chains goes back in the studio a couple years later and records the acoustic EP Sap. "Got me wrong" became a single a couple years later when it was in the soundtrack for the movie Clerks.  There are some special appearances, most notably Chris Cornell from Soundgarden.  The track "Right turn" consists of Alice in Chains, Chris Cornell, and Mark Arm from the band Mudhoney.  For this one track alone the band was titles Alice MudGarden. The hidden track "Love song", in my opinion is the worse thing Alice in Chains have ever recorded.

Recommendations

A classic album that I slightly have some problems with.  The whole 4 tracks plus a bonus track can be tolerable at times, mainly because the four tracks are great, and I understand why there are four tracks,  it's an EP, they're all acoustic songs, it makes sense.  But what doesn't make sense is the price.  Everywhere you look it is charged at full price.  You can buy Dirt (their next album, released later that same year) that has 13 tracks for the same price or sometimes even less than Sap, which only has four tracks.  Something is just not right there.  I did some research for those who are interested.  If you are a casual fan of the band, you're okay.  You can get all four of these tracks on the Essential double disc set, which is loaded with great material.  I on the other hand, prefer original albums, and with AIC being one of my favorite bands, I had to shell out the extra dough for Sap.

If you plan on purchasing Sap

Now you can find this locally for purchase.  The price as I just mentioned earlier is sometimes ridiculous, however you can get lucky sometimes.  I recommend checking out Cdnow.com, and you may be available to come across is at a reasonable price if they have a special running.  There is also an album that I came across a long, long time ago that has both the Sap EP, and the Jar of flies EP on the same disc.  That would be another way to go because you get two albums in one, however this is rare to come by.

If you don't plan on purchasing Sap but want to hear some tracks from it

You need to own all four tracks for this album.  Weather you go out and purchase it like I did, purchase a greatest hits that has all four tracks, or spend  4 bucks at Itunes, they must all be in your library.  For ideas on making a compilation disc, I also have my ideal compilation for the band on my Alice in Chains Home Page
