Notes

This is the solo debut album for U.K. singer/songwriter Richard Ashcroft.  Though his 1997 release with his band The Verve was meant to be a solo album, this is his official debut.  The album contained a few singles, with the highest charting being “A song for the lovers.”  The album charted at number one in the U.K., but did not in the U.S.

Recommendations

This is a very mellow album.  If you are into his band The Verve, then I recommend this for you.  If not, then you may want to pass it up and just purchase individual tunes.

If you plan on purchasing Alone with everybody

There are several import versions that contain two extra tracks.  Now you can go ahead and spend 35 bucks on these, or you can still with the original release like I did, and save yourself 25 bucks.  I’ve never seen this available in stores, but you can purchase them all on Cdnow.com.

If you don't plan on purchasing Alone with everybody but want to hear some tracks from it

The hit single from this album was "A song for lovers", which is not a bad tune.  My personal favorites were "You on my mind in my sleep" and "Brave new world."  I would recommend purchasing any of these tracks at Itunes or Napster.  For more suggestions you can check out my ideal compilation at my Richard Ashcroft Home Page.
