Richard Ashcroft

Richard Ashcroft is a singer/song writer out of Lancashire, England.  He is most notable known for being the front man for the U.K. band The Verve.  After The Verve broke up in 1998, Ashcroft began his solo career.  The Verve’s last album was initially set to be a solo album, but he called upon other members of the band to help with the recording of it.  Ashcroft has released three solo albums.  They have been somewhat successful, but did not reach the sales of the last album with The Verve.  Ashcroft is close friends with member of Oasis, and Coldplay singer Chris Martin.  Martin asked Ashcroft to join his band in 2005 at the Live 8 concert to perform The Verve’s biggest hit.  This grew some popularity for the fading artist, and released his third solo album soon after.  He has since reformed The Verve, who have been touring and are set to release their first album since 1997.
