The B-52's

The B-52's are an American band from Georgia that was formed in the 70's by two women, Cindy Wilson and Kate Pierson. The band would later recruit three more members, Wilson's brother Ricky, Keith Strickland, and Fred Schneider. They are one of the goofiest bands of their time. Cindy Wilson is the only member of the band who has not openly admitted to being gay. The women do most of the singing with Fred Schneider being the other vocalist, if you want to call it that. Schneider doesn't do a whole lot of singing, mainly just talking. The band earned some success with their first single Rock Lobster, from there they would go on to record other whacky songs and albums. In 1985 guitarist, and founding member Cindy Wilson's brother Ricky died at the age of 32. The band was heartbroken and took a two year break before they released their most popular album to date, Cosmic Thing. They would record another album, and release a few compilation discs after that. Members of the band went on to different side projects, individual albums, and recorded with other artists. The band has reformed, and released a new album.
