Blood Sweat & Tears

Blood sweat & Tears, originally led by Al Kooper was formed in New York City in 1967. The band has gone through several different member changes. The original line up that consisted of Kooper only performed on one album. After the first album was released Kooper went on to produce records for Columbia Records and two other members went on to different bands. The members remaining still wanted to continue on with the band and recruited Canadian singer David Clayton-Thomas. David Clayton-Thomas is the voice of BS&T that most people are familiar with. They would go on to record their second album that consists of their three biggest hits. The band would make a few more albums, some under Thomas, some under a new front man Jerry Fisher. The band would never reach the success of their first two albums. They have gone through several band member changes. Thomas has rejoined the group and left again a few times. From the moment the band formed until their last performance in 2005 the band has had over 120 different members. At the time of their creation BS&T were quite innovative. Using horns in Rock & Roll was unheard of at the time. Chicago is the most popular Horn Rock Band however Al Kooper and his Blood Sweat & Tears were the first to record it.
