Notes
What an awesome debut from Crosby Stills & Nash. Just about every song on here is well-known on oldies and classic rock stations. The most popular from this album would be Stephen Stills' Suite: Judy blue eyes, written for Judy Collins. The three members play all instruments with the exception of Dallas Taylor on drums. Wooden ships, whose song writing credit goes to Stills and Crosby on the album was also written by Jefferson Airplane member Paul Katner who was Un-credited. The album hit number 6 on the Billboard pop charts, and Rolling Stone named it number 259 on their top 500 albums list.
Recommendations
You've got to own it. It's a timeless classic with hit after hit. This album helped start a new era of folk/rock and must be in your music collection.
If you plan on purchasing Crosby, Stills & Nash
I bought my copy of this album in 2000. It was remastered and sounded wonderful. In 2006 another remastered version with extra tracks was released. Unless if you're a die hard fan stay away from the 2006 version. The '06 version costs twice as much, has some material missing from the original and the album sleeve does not include the picture of Dallas Taylor. I truly believe that it would be a waste of money going for the '06 version. If interested in saving some money and still owning the same great album, check out Cdnow.com
If you don't plan on purchasing Crosby, Stills & Nash but want to hear some tracks from it
You'd be stilly to pass this one up. But if you insist you must check out Suite: Judy blue eyes, Marrakesh Express and Wooden Ships. There are a handful of other great songs found here that you should check out at Itunes or Napster If you need more suggestions, I have my ideal compilation for the band at my Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young Home Page..
