D12

D12 is a hip-hop group formed out of Detroit, Michigan.  The most notable rapper in the group is Eminem.  The group was formed in 1996 by the late rapper Proof.  The group agreed that whoever rose to fame first must not forget about the group and to make sure that they bring them along for the ride.  Eminem, who was discovered by Dr. Dre was the first reach popularity, and he stuck with the promise with having D12 joining him on tour.  The group released their first album in 2001, well after Eminem had reached fame.  The album included the hit, Purple Pills, and three years later the group would release their second album.  The group had a major tragedy in the Spring of 2006.  Original member and founder Proof  killed a man at the CCC club in Detroit, shortly after Proof was then shot and killed.  D12 have laid low since then, but it has been rumored that they are recording a third album.
