Deftones

Deftones is a hard rock band that formed out of Sacramento, California.  The band consists mostly of high school buddies who played together for fun in the beginning, but then made it their career.  The band got their name from the fact the the word "def" was a common phrase used in hip-hop and it was mixed  with the word tones, which was a common suffix for groups in the 50's.  They have one of the most unique sounds.  They are hard rock, with a mix of hip-hop and alternative.  Overall I enjoy their sound, especially the clever drumming, but I could really do without the screaming, which at times pulls me away from this group.  As of 2008 the band has gotten back with their original producer and are working on another studio album.
