Notes

This is the debut album for Jimi Hendrix and his fellow band mates The Experience. It is one of the finest debuts of all time.  It was first released in the U.K.  There were several singles released before the album it self was released, these singles were not included on the original U.K. version.  Once it hit the U.S. the original version was butchered to include some of the original tracks and some of the singles, leaving a little bit of both out.  In 1997 when the album converted to CD format, the original version was mixed in with the singles, finally satisfying us fans.  The album includes some of Jimi's biggest hits including "Purple Haze", "Fire", and "Foxey Lady".  It also contains deeper tracks, in which are big hits with Hendrix fans.  Rolling Stone named the 15th best album of all-time.

Recommendations

There were only three studio albums released while Jimi was alive.  This one being the first, and quite possibly the best.  An absolute must own for anyone who owns at least 5 Cd's.

If you plan on purchasing Are you experienced

The original U.S. and U.K. version can only be found on vinyl, which is near impossible to get your hands on, but that's okay.  The 1997 reissue to CD includes the best of both worlds with the original U.K. tracks plus the singles.  You can easily find this at your local record store.  But if it's nasty outside and you don't feel like leaving your home, you can purchase it at Cdnow.com

If you don't plan on purchasing Are you experienced but want to hear some tracks from it

What? You don't own this? Please buy this album instead of purchasing individual tracks.  If you need some finical help owning it, please contact me, and I can see how I could help.  You are making a big mistake if you don't.  You know what? I'm not even going to say where you can purchase these tracks.  You can purchase it at a local record store for ten bucks.  For more great Hendrix songs, check out my ideal compilation at my Jimi Hendrix Home Page.
