Notes
Kiss's debut may be one of the best debut albums out there. It's an album that rocks hard from start to finish consisting of some of their most popular songs. The majority of these songs would be concert favorites staying on their set lists for years. For not having any singles the album did well, but it wasn't until a few years later when they re-released the album that it took off in sales. The band put on their own make-up for the album cover with the exception of drummer Peter Criss. He had a professional do it, and after that moment all Kiss members would apply their own make-up. The band was also trying to do a parody of the With The Beatles album cover, which is what I thought of when I first viewed the album. Kiss reached number 87 on the Billboard Pop charts.
Recommendations
This is a must own for any classic rock fan. There is not a disappointing track on here. You may not have heard these songs on the radio, but they are all classics and should be part of your library.
If you plan on purchasing Kiss
You must own the remastered version. The sound quality is great, and it's an easy to find album as well. If you can't find it at your local record store you can purchase it at Cdnow.com for a reasonable price.
If you don't plan on purchasing Kiss but want to hear some tracks from it
Are you nuts? Why would you not want to own Kiss? This album is loaded with great material. However if you are nutty, or just not into costumes and face paint there are some notable tracks that you would want to give a try. Strutter, Firehouse, Cold Gin, Deuce, and Black Diamond are some of the most famous Kiss tracks, and you can purchase all of them at Itunes or Napster. For more suggestions feel free to check out my ideal compilation for the band at my Kiss Home Page.
