Notes
Growing up in the 90's I was a casual fan of Live. I was always under the impression that their second album Throwing Copper was their debut, but obviously I was wrong. On my first listen of this I wasn't that fond of it. But on my 6th listen I enjoyed it. It's a mellow album in which a lot of the songs sound the same, but it does prove that they have a promising career in front of them. The first three tracks were released as singles and it peaked at number 73 on the Billboard charts.
Recommendations
This album will certainly grow on you. It is not their best album, but not their worse. I recommend that you give this a shot if you enjoyed the two follow up albums to this, if not, you may want to pass.
If you plan on purchasing Mental Jewelry
You don't have a whole lot of options if you want to own this one. There is only one version available, which I've never seen at a major record store. Your best bet may be to purchase at an online auction or at Cdnow.com.
If you don't plan on purchasing Mental Jewelry but want to hear some tracks from it
It's hard to say which tracks stand out on this album. The three singles are pretty good, as well as some others. I would recommend previewing my top 5 at either Itunes or Napster, and see what you think. You can also view my ideal compilation at my Live Home Page for more suggestions.
