Mad Season

Mad Season is a Seattle based supergroup that consisted of members from local bands Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, and The Screaming Trees. The band members were friends and while on a break from their full time bands they decided to get together to record an album. They only recorded one album and a handful of live performances before lead singer and song writer Layne Staley left to go back to Alice in Chains. The remaining three members recruited Mark Lanegan, who was also a member of the Screaming Trees, and sang backup vocals on a track from their album, to be the replacement for Staley. They did some work together and then tragedy struck, bass player John Baker Saunders died of an heroin overdose. With Saunders now gone, and Staley with AIC, this pretty much ended things for Mad Season. Mike Mcready went back to Pearl Jam and drummer Barrett Martin joined up with the trees. A few years after Alice in Chains broke up, Layne Staley was found dead at his home, also of a heroin overdose. Their library may only contain only 1 record, but their legacy will live on forever. *Due to only recording one album, there will not be an ideal compilation for Mad Season.*
