Meat Loaf

Marvin Lee Aday, who goes by the stage name Meat Loaf, is an American singer/actor, best known for a trilogy of rock albums titled Bat out of Hell.  He grew up in Texas and after attending a couple colleges he stole his father's credit card and split to California.  His mother died shortly after and according to Meat Loaf, shortly after his Mother's death his father tried killing him.  Meat Loaf ended up isolating himself in an apartment for a few months in Texas before returning back to California.  He formed a band called Meat Loaf Soul, and underwent several lineup changes.  They would open for several famous 60's bands such as Them and The Who.  While being a member of the cast of Hair, Meat Loaf landed a gig with Motown and recorded what is really his debut album.  It was with another artist named Stoney Murphy.  It did not have much success and after Meat Loaf gained more success himself the album was re-released with Stoney's vocals removed.  A short time later Meat Loaf auditioned for another musical, More than you deserve.  It was here where he met his future collaborator Jim Steinman.  Meat Loaf then began working with Jim on what many consider to be his debut album, Bat out of Hell.  It was also during this time that Meat Loaf made his movie debut starring in The Rocky Horror picture show.  During the writing of this album the two men could not find a record label to record with.  Finally they met up with Todd Rundgren who decided that he would like to produce Bat out of HellBat out of Hell ended up being a huge success and his partner began to get a bit upset because Meat Loaf was getting all the attention.  Steinman was the one who wrote all the music and lyrics, for Meat Loaf, but since the title of the group was Meat Loaf, Meat Loaf got all the attention.  Soon after while recording their next album Meat Loaf lost the ability to sing, he was told that it was all in his mind, but he was certain that he could not sing anymore.  He would eventually get his singing voice back and after some tough times was able to get off drugs as well.  Life after Bat out of Hell was a little rough.  He struggled to record another album as good and had to file for bankruptcy.  It was at this time him and Steinman began to work on Bat out of Hell II.  But during this time they would release several other albums.  After some really dark times, and 16 years after the release of Bat out of Hell, his songwriting partner and him released the sequel, Bat out of Hell II.  It was a huge success and was considered a great comeback for Meat Loaf.  With the success of Bat out of Hell II, Meat Loaf quickly released another album that didn't do too bad.  About 13 years later Meat Loaf continued on with the Bat out of Hell series and released the third installment.  At the end of 2008 Meat Loaf wrote a letter to his fans that he plans on recording a new album in 2009.  During all his ups and downs as a musician Meat Loaf has acted in over 50 movies/television shows.
