Notes

Nevermind was one of the most popular albums to be released in the 1990's.  Before it's release Alternative/Grunge music was not very popular.  However with the release of the hit single "Smells like teen spirit" that drew audiences all over the world to this album and put Grunge music on the map.  Before this album was recorded Nirvana left their Independent label in Seattle, Sub Pop and had to replace their drummer once again.  The man chosen this time to sit on the throne was Dave Grohl, and he would sit in that spot until the death of Cobain.  The cover of Nevermind is a baby trying to reach a dollar bill underwater. The label wanted pass this up when they saw that the baby's penis was visible, but Cobain insisted that it stay.  They did make an alternate cover, but obviously the original won the battle.  You can defiantly say that this is the album that changed the music scene in the 1990's.  It was listed by Rolling Stone as the 17th greatest album of all time.  It peaked at number one of the Billboard top 200 and spend 252 weeks on the charts.
