Gretchen Wilson

Gretchen Wilson grew up just as her hit song Redneck Woman indicates, as a Redneck. She was born in Illinois, to a teenage mother whose father split and then bounced from trailer park to trailer park. She dropped out of school and eventually moved down to Nashville. In Nashville she became a back up singer and met up with country artist John Rich who wanted her to become is songwriting partner. She signed a record deal and recorded her first album. Her first album was a hit, which included her trademark song, Redneck woman. Her debut album gave her some success and since then she has recorded two more albums. These albums were not as successful as her debut, but they were still popular on the Country Music Charts.
